What happened instead of the Magical History Tour…

While the Magical History Tour has been going on, we’ve been doing SOMe really aweSOMe activities here at the schoolhouse with the students who didn’t participate in the trip.

On Tuesday, the boys and Hunter biked to Putt’n Around to play 32 holes of mini golf!

During the second round, Zac and Israel made an incredible hole-in-one! While the boys had their fun golfing, the girls enjoyed a soothing cup of tea at Cafe Bleu.

On Wednesday, Nathan wrote a catchy guitar riff during Rock Band rehearsal! Dante, our newest member, contributed with the tastiest of drum grooves! We can’t wait to keep writing when the rest of the band gets back!

While our beloved Chef Neil is away, we’ve had the pleasure of cooking our own lunches for the school on Thursday!!! Tati, Rachel, and Leah made scrumptious pancakes, eggs, and bacon that were to die for!!!

After lunch we enjoyed a refreshing walk to Veterans Park. We played ball and enjoyed all of the wonderful sights!

The students enjoyed movement at Old School Square Friday morning. A relaxing yoga session was needed to kick-off the best day of the week!!!

The guys playing it cool during movement!

Chef Israel prepared customized sub sandwiches for Friday’s lunch! The lettuce was harvested from our own garden! The sandwiches also featured high quality kosher meat selected by the chef himself. It was so DELIcious.

After lunch we enjoyed a surprise outing to Brenda’s Birds, Arts Garage, and FY&I! Brenda’s Birds had a vast selection of exotic birds from all over the world. This Moluccan Cockatoo mimicked Zac and Sofia’s head bobbing and speech. It was hilarious!

After Brenda’s birds, we fulfilled a museum requirement when we visited the Arts Garage! We checked out the art exhibit, and then we poked our heads into the performance area where the venue hosts live music events. Then we grabbed some ice cream at FY&I right down the street. Talk about an incredible way to end a Friday!!!

For Monday’s lunch, Leah and Rachel prepared chicken piccata. This recipe includes chicken and…..just kidding. Its Leah’s secret recipe!

The chicken came out soooo good!

Zac and Dante found a beautyberry plant! In ecology class, we learned about native plants and their uses, then went on a walk around the neighborhood to identify them.

Nathan had a blast surfing!

Our Tuesday morning schedule consisted of lots and lots of surf time, pizza at Pizza Rustica, and a movie. Our experiences this week were amazing, and it was nice to enjoy Space of Mind all to ourselves, pretend to be Neil for a few days (which turned out to be very difficult), and to go out to for some aweSOMe excursions.

The entire team taking care of the garden. Everything must be watered!!!

I love seeing all the kids learning, playing and working together…..what a great sense of community. Super excited and happy that Dante' is able to be a part of this amazing space and awesome coaches. He is excited about learning and loves the new friendships. Thanks for sharing!
